How to Convert Physical Computer to Workstation

Convert Physical Computer to Workstation

First, install VMware Converter. Launch the VMware vCenter converter standalone shortcut from the desktop of your system. Click Convert Machine.

Tick source type Powered on and then choose this local machine.
Click Next.

Set up the parameters for the conversation disk. (CPU, memory, disk) and then choose next.

Review the conversion summary and then click on the finish button to start the virtual machine conversion. This can typically take some time to complete the process. It depends on the physical computer data.

Once the virtual machine conversation is completed go to the virtual machine created folder and check that the .vmx and .vmdk files were created.

Once the virtual machine conversion process is complete, disconnect your external hard drive that stores the VM-converted virtual machine and connect it to the system that is running your VMware product (Workstation, Fusion, or Player).
